The Process
To write this paper, I researched Vivienne Westwood’s background and her Café Society collection, analyzing how her designs reflected women’s liberation and resistance to patriarchal restrictions. I studied historical references, visual symbolism, and academic sources, then organized my findings into a thesis-driven analysis. Through multiple drafts, I refined my argument and writing style, learning how to connect fashion design with historical and cultural meaning.
The Outcome
The outcome of this project was a stronger understanding of how fashion communicates cultural and political messages. I learned that Vivienne Westwood’s Café Society collection used design as a form of rebellion and empowerment for women. My key takeaway was that fashion can challenge societal norms and advocate for freedom, proving that clothing can be both art and activism.
